At Don Valley Academy our Personal Development and Wellbeing curriculum is designed to be ambitious and to give all learners the knowledge and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. Our programme Life of a Student allows a focus to provide opportunities for students to develop lifelong interests whilst acquiring important social, emotional, cognitive, and physical skills. This is achieved though subject lessons, EPC, CEIAG, Form Time, Enrichment and other Experiences. Our vision for Personal Development is to provide a wider curriculum where our students can thrive and feel a strong sense of belonging with the #TeamDVA community as well as being a time that can also be used to provide support for the academic challenges faced by students each day in school. This also aligns with our values of “changing lives through belief and collaboration”.
Through developing the aforementioned skills students will improve their self-esteem while developing higher aspirations in both current academic situations and in pursuing long term careers. The provision of our enrichment varies through clubs and activities that encourage our students to pursue special interests such as music, sport and artistic performance. We aim to provide at least one opportunity for each year group that provides a new experience which works alongside the Delta pledges system to further enhance the students sense of belonging at DVA.
