Student Mental Health Wellbeing

At Don Valley Academy are dedicated in support the mental health of our students and support families in many different ways. By working closely with, With Me in Mind, Kooth and Fortis we have created a positive mental health culture within our academy.

We have a dedicated student led mental health ambassador team, that promotes positive Mental health wellbeing throughout the academy. These students work alongside, With Me in Mind in their monthly corridor workshops and other whole school approach projects.

Mental Health Ambassadors

Our team of student ambassadors for mental health promotes wellness programmes, as well as health-related initiatives, across the Academy.

They  are learning to reduce barriers  and stigma around mental health by educating other students about mental health support and conditions.

They assist in combating stigma by creating voice-led strategies to lessen stigma around mental health within the Academy, such as organising campaigns for mental health and wellness.

In future, they hope to be instrumental in culture and ethos change around mental health within the academy by working with staff to give a student perspective.

I have attach some photos from their assemblies and meetings.

With Me in Mind

We are a team of Mental Health Support Workers that assist children and young people with their mental health. We are situated in or close to schools and colleges in the Doncaster and Rotherham areas.

With the objective to treat students with mild to moderate mental health concerns in schools, the team works to improve the support already provided by school counsellors, nurses, educational psychologists, and the volunteer sector.

Additionally, the team can connect children and young people with more complex needs to specialised NHS services and assist them in getting the care they need.

Kooth

Kooth is a website that provides children and young people with mental health concerns, ages 10 to 18, with online, anonymous, and individualised mental health care. The services include cognitive behavioural therapy, counselling, mood disorders, and more.

In addition to professional support via live chat and texting with our counsellors and emotional health practitioners, online resources for self-help are also accessible, as are discussion forums for the online community. Our practitioners are online and available for live chat until 10 p.m., and the website is accessible around-the-clock. www.kooth.com
