Academy Advisory Board

My name is Anthony Long and I am proud to be the Chairman of the Academy Advisory Body at Don Valley Academy.

The single driving force of the Academy Advisory Body members is to work strategically with the leadership of the academy to bring about paced improvements in standards and teaching and learning.

The AAB is committed to the development of education for Doncaster’s young people and raising the aspirations, attainment and achievement of the students who attend the academy.

The AAB shares the academy staff’s pride in raising the expectations of its students, creating the best opportunities for them and preparing them for their lives beyond the academy by creating a safe and secure learning environment which allows all students to learn through a broad and balanced curriculum where everybody’s contribution is valued and everybody is challenged to reach their full potential.

We do not achieve this in isolation but through working closely with partner schools, parents and community groups to build a caring ethos which meets the needs of our learning community.

Don Valley Academy is a member of the Delta Academies Trust through which we have access to a wide network of support and many opportunities for our staff and students. The Delta ethos of ‘Changing Lives’ enables us to develop partnerships within and beyond Doncaster.

Should you require any further information about the Academy Advisory Body, please contact Mrs Edgar (Clerk to the AAB) at the academy.

Interested in becoming an AAB Member?

Over the course of the academic year the membership of the AAB has changed and the time is now right to invite more parents or carers to join the AAB.

If you are interested in becoming a member of the AAB, there are two forms that need to be completed. These forms can either be collected from Reception at the Academy or available to download from the links below.

The first form is a Governance Nomination Form which asks you to say, using no more than 200 words, why you would like to become an AAB member. The second form is an AAB Member Criteria form which asks a number of questions required by law about your eligibility to be a member of the AAB.

Completed forms should be handed in to Reception or emailed to the Principal’s PA at edgarb@donvalledacademy.org.uk.  In the event that there are more nominations than available places, a parent ballot will be held.

We hope that you will consider becoming a member of Don Valley Academy Academy Advisory Body at this exciting stage in the Academy’s development.
