Welcome to Year 6 parents, carers and students who will be joining Don Valley Academy in September.

This page is designed to keep you informed about our transition process over the academic year.

It is normally around this time that we would begin our transition process for Year 7 in Don Valley Academy. As this is not currently possible we have decided to begin in slightly a different way and have designed a project for the year 6 pupils to complete.

In the meantime you may want to browse through our FAQ section as this may answer some of the questions you and your child have regarding transition.

A welcome from the Year 7 Learning Manager

My name is Mrs McMahon, I am the Learning Manager for Year 7.

I am really looking forward to meeting you all over the next few weeks and welcoming you to Don Valley Academy in September 2021.

I understand that moving up from your primary school is a big change, but don’t worry, we will do all we can to help you settle quickly, make new friends and enjoy your secondary school education.  Our ‘Moving up to Year 7’ will give you lots of information about our Academy.

When I come and visit your primary school you will be able to ask all ‘the moving up’ questions and I can help with any worries you may have.  There will be nothing you can ask that I have not been asked before and I can assure you that your peers will all be feeling the same way.

My job in the Academy is to help and support you in any way that I can so if you have any questions, problems or if you are struggling with your work, you can come to speak to me.  I am available throughout the day and I will meet you on the gates in a morning and at the end of the day.

I am excited for the coming weeks and look forward to meeting you.  I wish you all a wonderful last half term in your primary school.

Mrs McMahon
