Julia has worked at Don Valley Academy since first qualifying as a teacher and is a dedicated passionate member of the team, Julia is passionate about the local community which Don Valley Academy serves.

Julia’s roles have always been closely linked to student’s wellbeing; from her position as Head of Department for Religious Education (RE) and Personal Social & Health Education (PSHE), to leading the Academy’s spiritual, moral, cultural and social development (SMSC).  Over this time and during these roles, Julia  has worked very closely with both the Local Authority and Universities in developing this provision and forging positive relationships and outcomes. This has subsequently been recognised as a strength within the Academy. As an Associate Assistant Principal, Julia has supported whole school literacy and developed a nurture provision for students coming into Don Valley Academy, which has been an overall benefit and strength provided to the pupils we serve.

Since 2018 Julia has been an Assistant Principal in Deep Support and currently leads the team.  She is also the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) for the Academy.  Julia and the team ensure from transition into the Academy, all students’ needs are met, so they may access the excellent teaching and learning at Don Valley Academy.  Students’ wellbeing is prioritised by endeavouring to create a successful pathway into adulthood. Julia’s passion for inclusion and students’ well-being has meant that she and the team have created such a culture at the Academy that we are now recognised as a Centre of Excellence by the Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM).

Julia works closely with the external agencies and the other Deep Teams in supporting young people in changing their lives through belief and collaboration.
