On Friday 1st March 2019 we had another sucessfull Careers Step-up day. These popular days include lessons workshops and activities bases around CEIAG careers and provide our students engaging ways to look at careers and engage with external businesses, higher education and other providers.
Some of the themes of the day included:
TeenTech City of Tomorrow . This project offered students the opportunity to apply their knowledge of science, technology and engineering to create their City of Tomorrow where no ideas are too big and everything is smarter, kinder and safer than before. The activity highlights career pathways in construction, engineering and technology and promotes good citizenship.
Year 8 students were breaking down gender stereotypes in the workplace, exploring growth sectors with Ahead partnership and looking at LMI with where are the jobs. Becoming a careers researcher, and career development with the career pioneer quandary
Year 9 students found out about the construction industry though VIY who combines volunteering and DIY by challenging young people aged 14-24 to learn trade and building skills, finding out about volunteering though the organisation. Students were also looking at the world of work and looking at business structures and employment rights, while also look at managing their money with Barclays and finding out about HE through HePPSY.
Year 10 students developed their career plans though many different workshops including; career researcher, building their employability skills managing their money and will have a professional mock interview with professionals.
