Extra-Curricular Clubs, Visits & Residential
At Don Valley Academy we have a thriving range of after school enrichment sessions which are open to all students. These clubs cover all aspects of the academic curriculum; with specific revision sessions for GCSE students as well as those clubs aimed more at delving beyond exam specifications and developing a deeper understanding and love of a subject with our students.
As well as academic enrichments we offer many other exciting opportunities for our students to extend their school day. We have a large number of sporting clubs, from rugby to trampolining as well as a range of performing arts-based clubs such as glee club, ukulele group, band and school production club.
We also offer some more unusual and niche clubs that cater for the varied interests of both our students and staff alike. Cooking club is a student favourite we have new groups on offer every half term covering areas that range from podcasting to table top gaming.
As an Academy we aim to ensure that all our students are able to find that extra enrichment session that adds a something special to their school week.
Don Valley Academy offers a range of educational visits covering multiple curriculum areas.
We take our students to the Lyceum Theatre in Sheffield and to the school Shakespeare Festival to support our drive to instil in our students a love of literature and reading.
Our amazing careers team lead trips to careers events held by local universities, Delta Trust wide careers fairs and other events more local to the Doncaster area.
We also offer visits that support our students more directly with assessed elements of their courses, including geography field trips to Hornsey for Y11 students and to a wildlife park with Y7 students.
Every year our Y7 students celebrate the end of the year with a team building residential trip. There are also other end of year reward events that help to celebrate our students who are finishing really successful years at Don Valley Academy. We also offer our students a chance to travel abroad through a ski trip to Italy during February half term.
As an Academy our aim is to offer a broad and coherent range of student experiences that ensure our students both enjoy and succeed during their time with us.
